Our day began with breakfast, singing and devotions by Clay. Today he spoke again from Hebrews, today from 11:5-6 and taught about our need to be fearless in our pursuit of God as He rewards those who earnestly seek Him. Assignments were given and then we are off to our vans.
We arrived at Refugio Orphanage to work on several projects. There are three building projects here. We’re building bunk beds, an office and picnic tables. It’s windy and warm today as we work and also prepare for the festival. A lot of the work was moving wood before we could start but the projects are going ahead nicely. Another group was prepping the Festival area, cleaning and setting up for the 2:00 Festival. Lunch was baked potatoes with cheese and carne asada. Yum!
Right after lunch we made our final adjustments to our games and the party began. So many kids and families! It was tiring but wonderful. God supplied strength and the men had a great attitude as they served God and the kids. One of the men said he was more tired after three hours at the festival than a day of ditch digging! But he loved it!
Then we were off to dinner at Golden Corral. As always we had great food and we’re able to meet with missionaries from this area. We met Megan and Roland from Border Missions, Bruce and Paula Hepburn from Mexico Mission Incorporated among others. We had a great visit.
Final assignments for some, and Late Night Prayer group finish off the evening.
We look forward to restorative rest and a day of worship tomorrow. We praise you Lord for the strength of the day.
