Hello friends, family, and all other loved ones reading this post! We made it to Faith Mission International in one piece, and are quickly getting into the groove of things to kick off the first week of Power Trip 2020!
As we settle in, conversations are flowing, food is getting prepped for breakfast, candy is getting sorted, vans are being cleaned and loaded, guitars are getting tuned for morning worship, photos are getting uploaded from the day, Pastor Brian Park is preparing his devotional for tomorrow, and I sit here in awe of it all.
Today has been eventful to say the least, and let it be known that the devil has been defeated in trying to prevent us from getting here! Flights were delayed, and in some cases, cancelled or re-routed. Some of us left a pile of work and came with stress and anxiety on our hearts leaving it all behind.
All 62 of us finally got together at the Travelodge in San Antonio around 5:00PM, and huddled up around Doug, who delivered a beautiful prayer and encouragement for us all to let it all go, and give it to God.
He reminded us that God’s got it. He’s always got it. We just need to remind ourselves of it every second of every minute of every day, and He will wash away the worry and anxieties that prevent us from being present.
With this, our hearts were opened to what God had in store next, which happened to be “Pasta Casserole”, or as people who DON’T live in Texas call it: “Lasagna”. We ventured to a new place called Hillside, which was superb, and the staff treated us like family. Shout out to the Hillside Staff! 5 stars on Yelp coming your way!
Next venture: Van ride down to Faith Mission (Del Rio, TX). This was a two hour opportunity for each van to swim beneath the surface of the water and get to know the depths of each other’s “stuff”. What a beautiful thing. I can’t reveal the details, but I can tell you that we leave that van better men. We leave it with a sense of gratefulness, and a reminder of just how blessed we are to have the wives, girlfriends, children, jobs, etc that shape our lives back home.
So just know, we love all of you reading this, and are constantly in prayer for you all back home dealing with the “stuff” we left behind. We appreciate you more than you know, and are motivated more than ever by your love and support for allowing us men to take the time out to do the Lord’s work in our beloved Mexico.
This said, Day one is in the books, and we have nothing but joy and motivation to do God’s “stuff” tomorrow morning in Ciudad Acuna, MX. We thank you for loving us and praying for us, and will be giving you updates throughout the week. Cheers and God bless!
Theme verse of this week: Proverbs 18:10 “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it is safe”.
