Worship was as beautiful as it always is. “O Come to the Altar” was in the lineup today—and man, that song always hits me the hardest. It’s such a powerful reminder that Jesus gave everything for us, even in our brokenness. Even when we continue to stumble, He stands right there with His arms wide open.
This morning, we dug into Matthew 6—“Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” It’s not money that’s the problem, but the treasuring of the treasure that poisons the heart. What treasures are we chasing after?
Brian shared a cool image about the aluminum capstone on the Washington Monument. Back then, aluminum was rare and valuable—now it’s just pennies on the dollar. Are we valuing what God values, or are we carrying around things that ultimately have no worth? Today, we’re carrying a piece of aluminum and a penny with a cross stamped out of it—a tangible reminder to focus on Kingdom Impact.
This might feel like a lot of questions, but sometimes we need to pause and sit with God, even when the conversation feels uncomfortable.
We split off to our assignments—back to the Chavez family home and Mini Mission 1. Both projects are coming along great. At the Chavez home, all the siding is up and painted the classic Power Blue! The roof is fully installed, too. Over at Mini Mission 1, we finished the trusses and nearly completed all the sheathing. The roofing crew’s been doing some serious heavy lifting the past two days. Tim, Shay, and Ray flexed their He-Man Strength today, moving wood like it was nothing. Pray for their backs—they might need it tomorrow!
But honestly, no matter how heavy the work felt, it’s nothing compared to the burden of sin that Jesus carried for us. I’m sure if you asked any of the guys, they’d agree the weight of a roof pales in comparison.
Lunch today was another win at Pan Am. The weather’s been chillier than usual it seems, but Micah D. saved the day with his homemade chicken soup. One bite of that, and nobody was cold anymore. Easily the best chicken soup I’ve ever had. After lunch, everyone jumped back into their projects.
The food crew returned to Faith Mission to prep for dinner. Border crossings haven’t been bad—slow, but quiet. Uneventful crossings are always a blessing. Once we were back, we mashed avocados, shredded cheese, and rolled enchiladas. There was also some kind of corn pudding that certainly looked different, but after one bite, everyone treated it like dessert. I might need to get that recipe from Micah!
After dinner, it was Power Store Night. Kyle really outdid himself this year. If you’ve ever thought about wearing hats, this was the year to start. I don’t usually grab more than one, but the selection was too good—I walked away with three. Hats off to Kyle for stepping up the Power Hat game.
Now it’s time for bed. Good night, everyone. Here’s to another great day ahead.
